Gauges: Why do I not understand logic?

So, last year when I first got gauges (Tapers) I started with 14G and it hurt like a bitch.


I got rid of them in like.. February? So, I had then for 7 months? 


Well, today I put 12G when my holes were completely closed pretty much.


Why am I so smart?


I question is now: Spider bites or wait two years for a tattoo.. or both.. or belly button.. or nose...
